Submissions

For those wishing to be considered for publication, please read the following guidelines:

  1. Both editions and academic texts will be considered.
  2. Acceptance is based on a peer-reviewing process as well as whether there is thought to be a need for such a publication at the present time.
  3. Submissions may be made in advance, with partially completed work. For books, this may be a chapter or two with an outline of how the work will progress; for editions, a portion of the music and its critical report should be submitted, alongside an overview of the preface and a sample of written work.
  4. Music must, ultimately, adhere to the Lyrebird house style and completed projects should be submitted in as Sibelius files and Word documents.
  5. It is the author/editor’s responsibility to ensure that the work is proofed correctly.
  6. Prefaces etc. should be written in British English.
  7. Texts by authors/editors for whom English is a second language should be proofed before initial proposals are sent. Although translations are acceptable, it is the responsibility of the author/editor to ensure they meet an appropriate academic standard.
  8. Where appropriate, submissions will be peer-reviewed.
  9. All texts will be copyscaped to ensure the authenticity of its contents.
  10. If successful, authors/editors will be provided with an approximate date of publication, although this will not be finalised in the first instance.

An information pack concerning house style is available on request, though this is not likely to be sent until an agreement to publish has been reached.
