Unearthed in 1997 from a private Italian collection, the Livre de tablature de clavescin de Monsieur de Druent, écrit par Couperin offers a rare glimpse into the French harpsichord tradition at the close of the seventeenth century. This manuscript, copied in its entirety by Marc Roger Normand Couperin—cousin of the more widely known François Couperin—bears witness to the stylistic diversity and rich musical culture of the time.

Known at the Turin court as ‘Coperino’, Normand Couperin assembled a remarkable anthology of 58 keyboard works. The collection includes music by major figures such as Chambonnières, D’Anglebert, Lebègue, and Hardel, alongside original compositions and arrangements by Normand himself, Militon, and members of the La Pierre family. Particularly notable are several transcriptions of orchestral pieces by Jean-Baptiste Lully, underscoring Lully’s lasting influence on keyboard writing.

This first-ever complete edition, prepared by harpsichordist and scholar David Chung, presents the manuscript in a scholarly yet practical format for performers and researchers alike. Through meticulous editing and contextual insight, Chung’s edition opens a new window onto both the Couperin family’s lesser-known legacy and the broader contours of late seventeenth-century French harpsichord music.

Whether you are a performer, musicologist, or enthusiast of the French clavecin tradition, this volume is an indispensable resource.
