The selection offers some useful preparatory material for those intending to study The Well-Tempered Clavier; the possibility for comparison of Bach’s compositional manner in different keys; and useful sight-reading material for more advanced players.
Francis Knights is a musicologist, editor and writer specializing in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire. His research interests include manuscript studies, performance practice, music analysis and organology. As a performer, his most recent recital projects have included the complete Tudor keyboard repertoire, and all of Bach’s keyboard and organ works. This is his sixth Bach edition for Lyrebird Music.
